I've decided to dedicate a blog to my experiences of living in Pontypool and it's current local issues. Mostly I want to concentrate on what is positive about the town and what projects, businesses and enterprises are being undertaken by the Community to regenerate and create a great local spirit.
The problems that face Pontypool are not unknown, some towns have overcome them, whether completely or partially. I personally don't have all the answers but I have ideas and enthusiasm. I also have a little spare time here at the moment.
For my first post I'd like to introduce a volunteer group set up to help improve and look after Pontypool Park, arguably one of the best assets the town has. I would suggest under utilised at present, I have heard tails of health and safety hurdles but I don't know the details so I'll leave that there!
These lovely people meet on a regular basis and clear areas and plant additional trees and bushes. They have their own website and a facebook:

Facebook
Both of these links can give you a great deal of information regarding their activities.
They are currently looking for help in the following areas:
Adminstrative Tasks
- Advertising
- Promotion and recruitment
- Planting
- Clearing
- Dry stone walling
- Litter picking
If you love your local park then join them for weekend fun!
